The ninth annual Ride For Autismsmpresented by BGC Partners will benefit Autism New Jersey.

03 February 2009. -- Cyclists will get in gear to help solve the puzzle of autism at the 9th Annual Ride for Autism sm presented by BGC Partners on Saturday June 13th in Lincroft, NJ.

The Ride for Autismsm is now accepting registrations from riders of all experience levels who are passionate about cycling or raising funds and awareness for the autism community. For registration details please visit www.ride4autism.org.

The Ride for Autismsm is a recreational tour that travels through scenic central New Jersey, starting and finishing at Brookdale Community College (765 Newman Springs Road) in Lincroft. The event is designed by the Jersey Shore Touring Society bicycle club and participants can choose from seven routes ranging in length from 7 to 100 miles. Rest stops and SAG support are provided on all routes.

All proceeds benefit Autism New Jersey -- a nonprofit agency providing information and advocacy, services, family & professional education, and consultation since 1965.

"The Ride for Autism sm is a great day of cycling, food and fun," said Ride Director Andy Abere. "The event brings significant awareness for autism and raises much-needed funds for Autism New Jersey. Last year, Autism New Jersey received 80% of every dollar donated to the ride."

Autism is a neurologically-based developmental disability characterized by atypical, repetitive behaviors and deficits in social and communication skills. It is usually diagnosed during the first three years of life and is four to five times more prevalent in boys than in girls. It knows no racial, ethnic or social boundaries. Autism spectrum disorders affect approximately 1 in 150 individuals nationally and 1 in 94 in New Jersey.
