The 9th Annual Ride for Autism, held on June 13 at Brookdale Community College in Lincroft, NJ attracted a record 650 riders. The event featured scenic routes ranging from 7 to 10 miles throughout central New Jersey, plus a 1 mile "fun ride on the campus for Children of all ages. This year's event was presented by RESET, an ICAP group company. Preliminary figures show the Ride raised approximately $50,000 for Autism New Jersey.

For nearly a decade, the Ride for Autism has supported the efforts of Autism New Jersey and remains one of its top fund-raising endeavors. "With the country's economic problems grabbing the headlines, it is important that we don't lose sight of the fact that there is no autism recession," said Ride Director Andy Abere, a Monroe, NJ resident whose son has autism. "While home prices, stock prices and jobs may have declined, each week more and more children are diagnosed with autism, and each year more and more adults with autism exit the school system and find themselves in search of appropriate employment and housing opportunities. This event helps to highlight these facts and unite the community to benefit individuals with autism." Autism New Jersey continues to sincerely appreciate Andy Abere's generous donation of even proceeds. "We are very grateful that hundreds of athletes dedicate their time and passion for cycling to help meet the urgent needs of the autism community," said Autism New Jersey Executive Director Linda Meyer.
