Register Now for the 2010 Ride for Autism!
Dec 16, 2009 -- Cyclists will get in gear to help solve the puzzle of autism at the 10th Annual Ride for Autism on Saturday June 12th in Lincroft, NJ.
The Ride for Autism is now accepting registration from riders of all experience levels who are passionate about cycling and raising funds and awareness for the autism community. For registration details please visit www.ride4autism.org.
The Ride for Autism is a recreational tour that travels through scenic central New Jersey, starting and finishing at Brookdale Community College (765 Newman Springs Road) in Lincroft. The event is designed by the Jersey Shore Touring Society Bicycle Club and participants can choose from five routes ranging in length from 10 to 100 miles. Rest stops and SAG support are provided on all routes.
An expo and kids activities will continue throughout the day at BCC. A post-ride lunch is available.
All proceeds benefit Autism NJ (formerly COSAC), a nonprofit agency providing information and advocacy, services, family and professional education, and consultation since 1965.
"The Ride for Autism is a great day of cycling, food and fun," said Ride Director Andy Abere. "The event brings significant awareness for autism and raises much needed funds for AutismNJ. This year, we had a record turnout and we are hopeful that for our 10th Anniversary we will raise even more funds in 2010 for
Autism NJ."
Autism is usually diagnosed during the first three years of life and is four to five times more prevalent in boys than in girls. It knows no racial, ethnic or social boundaries. Autism spectrum disorders affect approximately 1 in 150 individuals nationally, and 1 in 94 in New Jersey.
The Ride for Autism is being produced by g4 Productions (www.g4events.com) -- an event planning and production firm specializing in participatory sports and charitable fundraising events.
